From the Chair
On 30 August it will be my pleasure to introduce Gerry Riskin. A former lawyer and a highly successful writer and consultant to the legal industry, Gerry is recognised internationally as an expert on developing outstanding professional service firms. Whether you are a practice manager or managing partner, whether your firm is small, medium, or large, I urge you not to miss this opportunity to learn effective strategies for promoting growth, development and success in your law firm.
Canadian born, Gerry started practice as a lawyer in 1973. In 1979 he became a partner with Emery Jamieson and in 1984 the managing partner of Snyder & Company, with offices in Canada and Hong Kong.
Having cut his teeth as a lawyer, Gerry achieved excellent results as a law firm leader, which led to a demand to teach others to do the same. At this also he has excelled. Gerry has the distinction of being a Visiting Fellow of the College of Law in London and a Visiting Professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Now principal of Edge International, which tops the list in a survey of major USA firms of the most popular management consultants, Gerry’s clients include the most prominent professional service firms in the world.
Gerry’s books include Practice Development: Creating the Marketing Mindset, Herding Cats, and beyond KNOWING. Tom Peters, best selling business book author of all time, said of Gerry’s most recent book:

CANCELLATION POLICY
- Please note: Minimum and maximum numbers apply
- Registrations will be accepted on a first come/first served basis.
- Registrations close 10 working days before the presentation date (the closing date).
- NZLS CLE reserves the right to cancel any session that does not reach the budgeted minimum number of registrations. This decision will be made on the closing date and a full refund will be made to each registrant of the cancelled session.
- If you cancel your registration before the closing date, a refund will be made, less a $50 administration fee. After the closing date, there will be no refund.
- You may transfer your registration until 5 working days before the presentation. Please advise NZLS CLE in writing of the change.
